Abstract
Asia‑Pacific in Figures (1989) is a statistical pocketbook produced by ESCAP presenting key socio‑economic indicators for 38 countries and areas in the Asia‑Pacific region. It compiles comparable data on population, social conditions, employment, energy, national accounts, trade, government expenditure, finance, production, prices, land use, transport, and tourism. The publication aims to provide a concise overview of development trends and structural characteristics of economies using primarily official national and international data sources. It includes explanatory notes to clarify definitions, methodologies, and comparability issues across countries. Designed for quick reference, it supports policymakers, researchers, and analysts in understanding regional economic and social patterns
